Visitors to Michigan Legacy Art Park, located within the grounds of Crystal Mountain, are led through the densely wooded 30-acre preserve on 1.6 miles of hiking trails within Crystal Mountain. The Art Park features over 40 sculptures, poetry stones, an outdoor amphitheatre; and a Summer Sounds Concert Series (July & August). Each of the sculptures interprets, in its own way, a piece of Michigan's history.
The Art Park is open year-round from dawn to dusk, and is accessible by foot, cross-country skis or even snowshoes. Admission is $5 per adult. Kids ages 17 and under are free.
Artist David Barr founded the Michigan Legacy Art Park in 1995. He envisioned the Art Park as a place where "artists could tell the story of Michigan through the fundamental materials of nature” while connecting man to nature, nature to man, and transcending those boundaries without disturbing the balance.
