North Country Trail Association says, "The North Country Trail is America's longest National Senic Trail stretching 4,600 miles form New York to North Dakota, linking 7 states, 10 National Forests and more than 150 public lands. The NCT provides year-round recreation opportunities as it traverses America's north country and unites our red plaid nation." Go to for trail maps!

The North Country Trail is maintained by the following:

Harbor Springs Chapter: 46 miles of trail from the Mackinac Bridge south to Kipp Road (north of Petoskey) in Emmet County

Jordan Valley 45 Chapter80 miles of trail from Kipp Road to Starvation Lake Road (north of Kalkaska) in Kalkaska County. 

Grand Traverse Hiking Club100 miles of trail from Starvation Lake Road south through Kalkaska, Grand Traverse, Wexford, and Manistee Counties. 

Spirit of the Woods Chapter: 78 miles of trail through Manistee County and south.
