Ray Johnson Preserve
Ray Johnson Preserve
Elmer Johnston has 220 acres of rolling hardwoods and open meadows to enjoy. Old logging roads provide nearly two miles of hiking opportunities and previously farmed hilltops now offer great views of Lake Michigan and Beaver Island.
Church Road is plowed in the winter and the preserve provides great winter recreation opportunities. The trails are not groomed, however, heavy use provides a consistent track for cross country skiing. The steep slopes can be challenging and/or exhilarating.
